The Festival Fazioli

We’ve hired a Fazioli F228 grand piano for every Festival since 2014. It’s one of the ways we try to give our artists and audience the best possible experience. Born into a family of Italian furniture makers, Paolo Fazioli was obsessed with the piano from an early age. In 1979 he set up his piano business, developing and creating individually hand-crafted pianos to his own designs. A small, specialist firm - producing fewer than 150 hand-made instruments of outstanding quality a year - Fazioli makes the instrument of choice for a growing number of leading pianists and concert halls.

Angela Hewitt (Event 1), Clare Hammond (Event 3), and Richard Hetherington (Event 4) will play the Fazioli – indeed, the very one which Angela herself signed some years ago. It’s provided by one of the leading suppliers of concert quality pianos, Jaques Samuel, whom we thank for their continuing support.

We are also especially grateful to Laurette Read, who is most generously paying for the hire of the piano this year in memory of her late husband Martin.  l
