Webb/Melvin Variations on ‘Entre le boeuf et l’âne gris’

A new look for our Christmas concert this year. We’ve assembled eight of the country’s finest brass players to raise the rafters with music designed to celebrate the Season in suitably joyful fashion. From old masters such as Palestrina, Gabrieli and Bach through to Tchaikovsky, Holst and John Williams – as well as a couple of specially commissioned pieces – we’ll be well set up for the festivities to come.

 

Marcus Bates (horn) is a versatile musician both playing in West End Shows in London and performing with most UK Symphony Orchestras including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Opera Orchestra, Royal Ballet Sinfonia.

Marcus has also performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Hallé Orchestra. He is happy playing in many musical styles from Early Music to Big Band Jazz.
